moving locke’s island.

how deep will LOST get?

as good as this season of LOST has been, the one thing it was missing was a classic locke episode… now we finally have it. i loved the flashback insights into locke’s young life. how chilling was that moment when creepy lost island guy was observing infant john in the incubator? how freaky was it that grade-school john was scribbling drawings of the smoke monster and claiming sand, compasses and rusty knives as his own property? don’t even get me started about lance reddick as locke’s orderly suggesting that trip to australia..

dasvi’m also a huge fan of ben finally breaking down and ceding leadership of the island to locke. hence fourth i will refer to said location as “locke’s island.” as it should be. but whats all this about moving the island? MOVING it? geologic conventions are being defied here - which i guess is no big deal when you consider that space and time are also up for grabs when it comes to the narrative of LOST.

time to openly digest some more information:

– john’s efforts must eventually be successful in terms of avoiding the mass murder of “locke island’s” inhabitants… but on some level things will fall apart for those who escape. the oceanic 6 must ultimately break away from the island (via sayid’s efforts with the raft with some help from the dude in the helicopter). but we shouldn’t forget that last season ends with jack desperately trying to convince kate that they never should have left. another twist on that issue is undoubtedly coming.

yup, he’s dead.

– i think we can now safely infer that the island being “on the move” keeps charles widmore’s crew from completing their takeover mission. remember, in the “future” ben and sayid will set about stalking widmore’s minions, and that mission culminates in ben bum rushing chuck in his fancy ass home. i think *that* moment should be identified as one terminus for this story arc

– i guess we now have to accept that christopher and claire sheppard are zombies / thralls of the ubiquitous jacob, and are able to impart cryptic morsels of advice on his behalf. that idea is a little odd to me though… the supernatural “beyond the dead” element of the story line needs a little more polish. also - all the rooting around with dead bodies seems a little ghoulish. hurley handled that news about ben’s body count a bit too well. handing him a snickers? c’mon… you know that dude wasn’t gonna be sharing any snacks.

anyways… the buzz from this ep is now starting to die down in by brain. feel free to tack on any ideas, comments, theories, etc that tonight’s festivities may have spawned.

it was an amazing episode. part of me wants to say that richard is time travelling. he met locke in the present and goes back in time to try and recruit him. great post!

Good Episode. Maybe aliens are behind it all???

Is he time traveling? Or does he somehow not age? Immortal?

i think that richard (thanks for recalling that dude’s name, jdiaz) isn’t immortal so much as he is time traveling. there’s already been a great deal of time chicanery going on with LOST, so that sort of follows. all the people ben and/or the island keep bringing out (locke’s dad, christian shepherd, etc) are being brought to locke island from the past, i’ll bet.
