wave her goodbye.

now that salma hayek is off the market, i’ve decided that i have to stalk the woman responsible for this quote:
Blonde girl: So, you’re from Puerto Rico and you just moved here? Wow, that’s so exciting! Do you speak Puerto Rican?
Puerto Rican girl: No, but I speak Mexican fluently.

gotta love new york attitude.

one of the things i miss about living in nyc is riding out on the subway and reading the headlines from the various tabloid newspapers in town. even though the company is evil
(newscorpa ndrupertmurdoch arethedevilan drollwiths kull- andbonesillum inattitypem othe rfuckers!bewa re)
most days its a lock that the cover of the ny post will say something hilarious, creepy, or absurdly mean spirited. some examples:

oh the humanity.

sadly, i was not able to locate a photo of my all time favorite cover of the ny post. in 2004 the boston red sox finally defeated their long time oppressors the ny yankees (a happy day for all my fellow mets fans). it had been 80-something years since the sox had made it to the world series, and it was a pretty big deal that boston finally took one from new york (yeah, after like 98332637382467826452752 tries). in response to this quasi-monumental event the new york post ran a cover (with no photo, just text) that read:

HELL
FREEZES
OVER.

i loved that. i wish i had a copy of that issue. i’m sure some deeply persecuted red sox fan out there has a copy. if you do, i IMPLORE you to send me a high resolution photo. ah, nyc…even though i’m pretty happy with life on the fresh coast, nary a day goes by that i don’t recall with fondness all the hilarious goodness that you inspire.
